01.09.2009 Freshwater Jellyfish Did you know that there are jellyfish species living in freshwater? In Europe one can find Craspedacusta sowerbyi from time to time. A friend found some very tiny ones in a tank and sent them to me. Although C. sowerbyi doesn´t become very big (max. 25 mm), those ones were indeed tiny (2 mm) and showed only 16 tentacles. 14.06.2009 Cichlidae 05.2008 Not exactly news, but I found this issue between some papers recently. Andrew Wood, Editor of the British Cichlid Association Journal Cichlidae, asked for a photo of L46 and I was happy to provide a photo of one of my own specimen. Not exactly cichlids either ;-)

22.02.2008 Microphotographs: From Cyclops to Oligochaetes Lately I have tried to shoot some of the smaller aquarium inhabitants at high magnification. You will find these photos in the new created -> Micro Gallery. This is only the beginning of a big microphotography project. Prepare for even smaller creatures. The photo on the right shows a Snail Leech (Glossiphonia sp.) with attached juveniles, an example for parental care in microcosmos. |

04.10.2007 10. Zierfische & Aquarium / 11. Cichlidentage, Duisburg Zierfische & Aquarium is one of the biggest Trade Fairs for Aquarium Supplies. This year visitors will find a Cichlid Exhibition hosted by German Cichlid Association DCG (Deutsche Cichliden Gesellschaft) in the same hall. 12.06.2007 Breakthrough Some days ago I collected about 80 Corydoras sterbai eggs and took them into an extra tank. I was lucky to make this shot of one of the larvae while leaving its egg shell. The birth of a little catfish. |
